LEARNING'S FROM AUGUST 9 MAKE UP ...

Many years had passed and currently this generation had come so far in terms of how people live. Transitions from simple living into modern living take place and this is because of the different amazing inventions and innovations that was made of the people out of their creative and imaginative minds. People may think an idea out of the blue or intentionally but one thing is for sure, they made it because of some reasons and happenings. Thinking an idea may happen through serendipity walks like you’re just walking alone along the wide road, accidentally you slipped out and there, you came up to an interesting idea that maybe can be useful in the society. A person can also think a great idea through evaluating his self and his environment. As a person know what he likes, he loves, the things he’s best at, things he hates or that irritates him, there will be a great possibilities that he can make great innovative ideas out of his creative mind. These ideas build the modern world in this present time and currently, it’s continuous and people in this generation keep on making human being’s lives easy and trouble-free.

In our fifth meeting happened on August 9, 2014, part of the discussion is the making of great ideas and reasons behind of it. Our facilitator discuss the three things that could be the source to make ideas and these are the following: Love, Best, and Irritancies. These following could be a great contribution to make an amazing innovations. When we say love, it’s about what you love or the passion you had for a particular thing. If you love what you are doing or what you had taken, things will just follow with the flow. For example, if a student didn’t really want the course he took, it will be difficult for him to keep on the right track in terms of his studies. Passion is not there, love doesn’t exist and that’s why he would end up failing again and again. Regarding with making an idea, what you love can be a source. There are many people who had made great inventions and innovations basing what they love to do. Well I don’t know if the creator of the Instagram application love to take photos and share it to all people in the world but if it’s the reason then, it’s a good example.

Another thing that can be used in making ideas is basing what you are best at. If you know what’s your strength, why not make the use of it and find ways to make it useful not only for you but for all people who can have an interest the same as you. Strength is the thing that you’re sure you can do it more than others can do and as a human who can have an imaginative mind, there’s many great opportunities and possibilities if you will make innovations. Like what Bill Gates and Steve Jobs did. They know what field they are best at and they used it to reach their own goals in life. Like Steve, he’s strength is to talk and influence people and thinking great things. As a result, he had the Apple company and was named as the “America’s Risk Taker”. With the case of Bill Gates, he’s very intelligent and that’s his strength to make his own name that is known until now as the owner of the Microsoft Company and one of the richest man in the earth. It only proves that knowing yourself is the best tool to make great ideas and innovations like what the two great people in the world of technology did.

The last thing that has great contribution and the reason why we had great innovations today is the irritancies we have. Irritancies means the things you hate or you doesn’t like. It’s more a combination of knowing yourself and observing the environment. If you hate something that causes a problem, why not make an invention or an idea to provide a solution for it. By thinking the idea made out of your irritancies to a particular thing, you can solve your irritancies as well as to aid the problem you had and maybe the problem that all people had. Like what our facilitator shared to us, he has a friend who has problems in comfort rooms as his friend goes to other country. Since he doesn’t like the way how the CRs is presented, he make some innovations and make it more presentable and comfortable to use. Now, he became the founder in the WTO (World Toilet Organization) though I’m not sure but as I remember, he was part of that organization. Simple problems but it was a huge idea that made a great change.

From our discussion, our facilitator also include the elevator pitch which was about convincing a person to buy your idea. Elevator pitching doesn’t really means that we must do it literally in an elevator, it only means that we have a very limited time to convince a particular person with our ideas to get a support. Our facilitator asked us if it happens that we will be on the same elevator with Bill Gates who is one of the richest people in the world, how we will consume the one minute or less than a minute to convince Bill Gates to approve our idea or the product we have? As what I learn and realize upon hearing this kind of pitching, the real score of it is the about the grabbing the opportunity and make the use of it like there will be no other chances. It’s a matter of courage and skills you have to make a way for the opportunity you wish for to have and as this chance is there in front of you, you must do anything you can. If other says that there are many fish in the sea, well not all big fish like you almost had will be in your hand in the second or nth time around. Therefore, do as what you can and give the very best you have.

Regarding with the discussion, I find this as one of learning that I will never forget to the fact that it really helps us as an IT students especially in our future someday if it happens that we will pursue to be a person who will make great innovations someday. Asking me if what I really like the most, all of about what our facilitator shared to us is the answer. As what I said, it was helpful for us though the slides were too long to handle with our eyes but still we’re students and we’re here to learn not to complain. In the part that I least like, well I don’t really hate the topics that was shared to us since I learned a lot. I was just reminded that there are many things that must be improved to us not only with our skills but also knowing those kinds of stuffs like self-mastery and other components to be a good or best person when it comes to the world of technology. In part of improving, I just learned how important to know our selves first. After knowing ourselves and observing our environment, we can do more amazing things out of the strength and kind of minds we have. In addition, there will be more possible opportunities that will be in our favor as we make our ideas real. It’s just a matter of using your thick face and wear your courage to do it. Without courage and faith of what you were doing will be just a waste since you just all know is you’re just a weak person and nothing can do but to worry and afraid what will be the results of things you will do. The bottom point is that people like Steve Jobs and Bill Gates doesn’t only have the best things that they have which is their ability but the spirit they have that must be implied by future technopreneurs and students like us.
