Innovation (Hotel)


                It’s very important to stay with a comfy and safe place especially if you’re in that place to have fun, or to have peace in mind. People who are far away with their homes and have an enough budget most likely stays in a hotel to have great pleasure while they staying in. If a hotel succeed to satisfy their customers, then there are tendency that customers who were satisfied will recommend it to others which is a positive one on the part of that hotel. One of the customers were mostly attracts with is the ambiance of the hotels itself and how it is modern from the other places. Embracing the modern life is one the key to be successful in today’s business world. In Davao, there are many hotels where customers can stay in and one of these are the following hotels where I was able to visit and observe: Hotel Uno, Davao Hotel and GV Hotel.

               
Hotel Uno is found in CM Recto St. in Davao City. I could say that this hotel is not bad to stay in since they have a better ambiance compare with the other hotel that I have visited. Actually, it has elevator which is a good thing for the customers so that they will just tap some button and that’s it, they are on their perspective rooms. But there are some things that can be innovated in their place to be safer for both customers and staffs as well as to live more easily. Even though this technology is not so new with the other hotels or establishments in town, they can have e-Censored Door, an automatic door which will open and close automatically as the customers is near with the door. Ideally, it’s a censored type of door that instead of pulling-push setup, it opens or close automatically as the customers walked in with some distance from the door. With this concept, it lessens the effort of the customers as well as the staff just to go inside or going outside of the stated hotel.

               
After of I visited the Hotel Uno, next in my list was the Davao Hotel since it’s not so far with the first hotel I’ve visited. This hotel has a dim-lighted ambiance. There’s a short hallway before you reach their front desk. To elevate the level of their service, they could apply the product of today’s technology. As the customer will get into the front desk, they will know which rooms is occupied and what rooms are available. In this way, they can choose a room whatever they want but how could this be done? This kind of device is not new since I saw it in some malls in Davao like in Abreeza’s cinemas. This concept is the BioRoom Logger in which there will be a wide screen beside the front desk showing what rooms are available. As they decide what rooms they want to stay in, they will just tap the showed rooms in the screen and it will be connected in the database. The tapping of the screen is for the purpose of biometric system application with the customers. Though they will have the swiping of cards upon opening their rooms, a finger print can also an option to open the room. This idea is for some situations like the owner of the room will lose their cards. So even they will lose their cards, they don’t have to go to the front desk and ask to open their room. But what if the customers will leave and another customer will go with the same room? As the customers leave the room and decided to check out, then the front desk officer will reset the information collected by the database since the screen where the customers will choose their rooms are connected with the computers of the hotel owns. This idea is costly, but will give the customers a big shot since most of the people nowadays are fascinated with the modern technology devices.

               
The last hotel that I had visited was the GV Hotel. As I enter the place, I can see clearly that there are many things that can be improved in their place especially in their facility they have. The first thing I was concerned of is the safety of the customers as well as the staff in the hotel. They have an open wood door, and I could say that their safety measures are not enough to feel that you are safe while staying in their place. What if there are bad people that will harm the people inside the said hotel? Since they don’t have enough security guards to check the every person who will go in, there are big possibilities that accidents may happen that cannot be controlled by their staff. To secure that they will be secured, they could have a scanner type door. Even if they will just assigned one security in that door, a door like a scanner device is a big help for them to control who can enter the hotel. With the ScDoor, the door has its own scanner device that will detect the things the people bring with. The door has its laser type of light that before a person will reach the door in a distance of one meter, it will automatically scan the person who is near with the door. Example, if a person will bring some harmful devices such as guns, knife or any things that are harmful, then the door will give an alarm and will close automatically. That’s the time that the guard will do his job. Another that catches my eyes when I got there is the comfort room they have. It was near in their front desk which is for me is not good. What if there will be some unnecessary things that will happen? Like an unpleasant smell from their comfort room. It’s a terrible thing that as you enter in their lobby, foul smell will welcome you which is not good for the name of the hotel. It’s not good for the hotel that customers will experience like this situation. Remember, a satisfied customer is one of their tools to be known. If the customers are feeling great to the satisfaction they get, they can recommend the hotel to others to stay in. To achieve this success, the hotel could have an innovated comfort room. From its name “Comfort”, it must be comfortable inside and out. Instead of having a janitor that will maintain the CR 24/7, the CR will clean itself and this is the Wipe A-plus. There will be a screen near to the door of the CR which will indicate that there is a person who still using it. With this idea, knocking-on-the-door system will be removed and replace with a modern type of system. Aside from this system, as the person leaves the room, the room will be automatically scented intended for the next user. The bowl will be clean automatically as the user will stand up and leave the room. Even the floor will be clean in a way that there will be like a big shower in the ceiling and as everything will go well, the ceiling itself has its own drier to dried out the place for the next user. Though this kind of concept is expensive, it’s a big help for the hotel to give a great service to their customers.
